Hi, I’m Fränk Klein.
I help WordPress developers master modern skills so that they can thrive in the ever-changing software industry.
My WordPress origin story
The origin story of WP Development Courses goes back to 2011.
It was this year that I decided that, after unsuccessful career attempts as both a designer and project manager, I wanted to be a programmer.
This was a deliberate process. I wanted to be in a growing industry (web development), use the most popular language (PHP), and the most popular content management system (WordPress).
So I went on Amazon, did a quick search, and bought two books: Learning PHP5 and Professional WordPress Development. These provided me with solid foundations to build my first websites.
Modern WordPress: Entering unchartered territory
But after that, I was pretty much on my own. And as I progressed in my career from junior to senior, and then Principal Engineer, I had to figure out a lot of things on my own.
It was a hard, slow, and frustrating.
Then came 2018, and the Gutenberg project. And with that came lots of technical changes. WordPress now wasn’t only about PHP.
Now there was modern JavaScript, and React, and build pipelines, and a host of other things I had no experience with.
And to my surprise learning these things was actually easy.
Because in the wider web development space, there are lots of courses available that teach you these skills.
So I asked myself: Why don’t we have this in WordPress?
And this is what led me to create WP Development Courses.
What I do
My mission is to create the educational resources I wish I had.
The fast pace of change in WordPress has left many developers feeling overwhelmed and lost. They know they are struggling to stay relevant. Not only in WordPress, but also in the wider web development industry.
I know that every WordPress developer can learn the skills they need to succeed in their career.
And I’m here to provide the educational resources that allow you to do this.
